Our immediate Support programs focus in helping individuals and families access practical resources during times of financial hardship and life challenges. These programs are designed to provide compassionate, community-based assistance while keeping families maintain stability and access essential support.
🥫 Rise Essential Support
The Rise Essential Support Program provides food and essential assistance to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship and unexpected life challenges. Many households are currently struggling with rising living costs, limited resources, and difficulty accessing consistent support for basic everyday needs.
This program focuses on helping families access grocery support, food baskets, essential household items, and additional community resource referrals when available.
Our goal is to help reduce immediate financial pressure while supporting overall well-being and household stability during difficult periods.

🧾 Community Tax Clinic
The Palmer Rise Community Tax Clinic provides free income tax filing support to eligible individuals and families who may need assistance accessing important government benefits, tax credits, and financial support programs. Many individuals face barriers to completing their taxes independently, which can result in missed financial assistance and reduced access to important community resources.
This program focuses on helping individuals complete accurate tax filings while improving awareness of available benefits and financial supports that may contribute to greater household stability. By helping individuals navigate the tax filing process, we aim to reduce financial barriers and improve access to essential support programs available within the community.

Family & Stability
Our family & Stability programs focused on helping families access practical support during important periods throughout the year. These initiatives are designed to reduce financial pressure, support children and caregivers, and help families feel more stable, prepared, and connected within their communities.
🎒 Back-to-School Backpack Program
The Palmer Rise Back-to-School Backpack Program helps students prepare for the school year by providing backpacks filled with essential school supplies and educational items. Preparing children for school can create financial stress for many families, especially when balancing the cost of supplies, lunches, clothing, and everyday household expenses.
Through this program, students may receive backpacks containing grade-appropriate school supplies, lunch bags, water bottles, and additional items that support learning and classroom readiness. Our goal is to help students feel confident, prepared, and supported as they begin a new school year.
As Palmer Rise Community Services continues growing, we are actively working to expand sponsorship opportunities, school supply donations, and community support efforts that help reduce back-to-school financial pressure for families throughout Durham Region and surrounding areas.

Many individuals face challenges accessing reliable information and guidance related to financial literacy, parenting support, organization, personal development, and everyday life management.
Through educational workshops, community discussions, and supportive learning initiatives, this program aims to provide practical information in a welcoming and encouraging environment. Workshop topics may include budgeting, self-care, parenting support, life organization, personal growth, and additional educational topics based on community needs and available partnerships.
